Windows 11 in S mode is designed for security and performance, exclusively running apps from the Microsoft Store. If you want to install an app that isn't available in the Microsoft Store, you'll need to switch out of S mode.
Windows 11 in S mode is only available in the Windows 11 Home edition. If you have the Pro, Enterprise, or Education editions of Windows 10 in S mode, Windows Update will not offer Windows 11 because S mode is not available in those editions of Windows 11. Therefore, if you have the Pro, Enterprise or Education editions of Windows 10 in S mode, you'll need to switch out of S mode to upgrade to Windows 11.
Switching out of S mode is one-way. If you make the switch, you won't be able to go back to Windows 10 or Windows 11 in S mode. There's no charge to switch out of S mode.
  1. To switch out of S mode, click here to open the Microsoft Store to the Switch out of S mode (or similar) page.
  2. On the Switch out of S mode (or similar) page, select the Get button. After you see a confirmation message on the page, you'll be able to install apps from outside of the Microsoft Store.

thank goodness I am unlikely to use this, unless of course, forced to do so. Sounds a bit complicated to me. But thank you for info. It may well be useful in the future @jenel.

OK - so Windows 10 is no longer going to be supported by updates. Therefore they are asking people to change to Windows 11. (forget the S mode which is far far far too complicated for me to comprehend (even if I can use big words now and then, lol). My question is - has anyone switched to 11 and if they have are there any problems with Wrapcandy????
Don't know if this has been asked before (I possibly have but can't remember - it's an age thing) and if so sorry!
Any comments would be appreciated. thank you all

Anyone able to answer my question regarding Windows 11 please
I am still using 10 on my laptop but.......my hubby is a Mac freak but does have a PC laptop with 11. So..........I installed WC on his to see if it works and it does. As far as changing on mine from 10 to11, not sure but will be doing that in the next few days and will let you know. If it doesn't work I am confiscating hubby's PC lol.

Okay, I did it. IT WORKS!!!!! Happy dance!!!! Hubby is also doing a Happy dance lol.
